The airline would gradually reduce operations until they suspend all of them coming Saturday. The carrier would keep aircraft on standby like their counterpart Austrian Airlines for emergency operations.

Temporary Technical unemployment

Around 1500 staff of Brussels Airlines were working on temporary unemployment since March 16th. Since this announcement almost all of its 4000 strong staff would be temporarily unemployed until the airline restarts its operations. Brussels Airline isn’t the only airline to bring in drastic measures as on a global level airlines such as British Airways, KLM, Norwegian , American Airlines, are doing everything they can to conserve cash by suspending flights, grounding aircraft and laying off staff. Airlines have been hit with travel bans and restrictions which has plummeted demand for air travel.
