Chennai was a regular visitor of THAI Airways from Bangkok. THAI used to serve Chennai on a daily basis using its A330 or B777 aircraft though occasionally we have been served using its latest technology B787 aircraft. THAI Airways had scrapped the Chennai route during mid-March due to the coronavirus crisis which had led to drop in demand for travel and various restrictions.

THAI Airways had initially started operations to Chennai during the 2000s with its route being Bangkok- Chennai-Dubai. Later the airline had started direct service to Dubai and had scrapped the Chennai-Dubai service.

Other than THAI Airways the only other Thai airline to serve Chennai was THAI AirAsia which operated a daily service to Chennai from its secondary airport in Bangkok which is Bangkok-Don Muang Airport.
