Cathay Pacific has announced in an update that it would be temporarily suspending all its flights to Japan until the 28th of March. Cathay Pacific would be suspending flights to Tokyo-Haneda, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Nagoya and from March 13th it would be suspending flights to Tokyo-Narita and Osaka-Kansai, the airline announced.

Japan had said earlier that travellers from China including Hong Kong and Macau would be kept in compulsory quarantine for 14 days. The country also suspended visa waiver program for Hong Kong. This comes in addition to other destinations to which flights are suspended such as New York,Washington D.C, Adelaide,Rome,Milan,London-Gatwick, Barcelona,Tel Aviv,Seoul,Jeju,Kolkata,Busan,Clark,Davao,Kaohsiung,Taichung.

In a statement Cathay Pacific has said it has reduced 90% of their flights to mainland China including that of subsidiary Cathay Dragon and approximately reduce 40% of their capacity across their network in the next 2 months due to drop in demand.
